Maia Béar

Maia is a writer from north London. She recently completed her PhD at Yale University with a thesis exploring literary representations of monumental tombs in late medieval England and France; she was the recipient of several fellowships and prizes, including from the Yale Center for British Art and the Yale Center for the Study of Race, Indigeneity, and Transnational Migration.
Her academic research has been published in Manuscript Studies and postmedieval; her poetry has in Die Quieter Please, the Bedford Prize Anthology, and various online outlets; her fiction is forthcoming. Her work explores, among other things, suffering, Jewishness, and the impossibility of knowing other people. When not writing, she works in the non-profit sector.
