David Goodhart is a journalist, author, and think tanker. He is currently head of the demography unit at Policy Exchange. He is the founder and former editor of Prospect magazine, and the former director of the centre-left think tank Demos.
His 2013 book The British Dream: Successes and Failures of Post-War Immigration was the runner up for the Orwell book prize. In 2017, he published The Road to Somewhere: The New Tribes Shaping British Politics (a Sunday Times bestseller), in which he identified the value divisions in British society between ‘anywheres’ and ‘somewheres’ that help to explain the Brexit vote and the rise of populism.
