Zinovy Zinik is a Russian-born bilingual author of eighteen books of fiction and nonfiction. He was stripped of his Soviet citizenship when he decided to emigrate from the Soviet Union in 1975. Since 1976 he has been living in Britain, and worked as a freelance contributor to the BBC World Service and Radio 3 as well as the Times Literary Supplement.
Zinik took an active part in adaptations of his work for radio and television such as the film version of his novel The Mushroom Picker (BBC TV, 1993) and a dramatic narrative My Father’s Leg (BBC Radio 3, 2005). His recent books of fiction include Sounds Familiar or the Beast of Artek (2016) and the new collection of short stories in Russian No Cause for Alarm (2022).
