Rosie Kay

Rosie Kay is a dancer, choreographer, and director. She trained at the London Contemporary Dance School and her career as a dancer took her to Poland, France, Germany, and the USA. She returned to the UK in 2003, founding an eponymous dance company and later the group K2CO.

In 2017, Kay created MK ULTRA with the film-maker Adam Curtis. The work which brings together Kay’s distinct choreography and Curtis’ narrative style explores conspiracy theory as pop. Kay’s other works include Romeo + Juliet (2021) and the multi- award-winning work 5 SOLDIERS (2010- present) based on research with the British Army. Her works tour to Sadlers Wells, Birmingham REP, Norwich Theatre Royal, Salisbury Playhouse, as well as European and American stages.

Kay’s solo Adult Female Dancer was celebrated as one of the ‘Top 5 Dance Works of 2021’ by The Observer and she was nominated for a National Dance Award 2022 for Outstanding Female Performance (Modern) for her Absolute Solo II. In 2018, Kay choreographed the live Commonwealth Games Handover Ceremony, watched by over 1 billion people worldwide.

Kay is a trustee of Dance Consortium and A Moment’s Peace. In 2023, she co-founded Freedom in the Arts with Denise Fahmy.
